Getting Started with MCP for Marketing Analytics

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is Anthropic's official protocol that allows Claude to connect to external data sources and tools. Think of it as a bridge between Claude's AI capabilities and your real-world marketing data.

Instead of manually exporting CSVs, building dashboards, or writing SQL queries, you can simply ask Claude questions in plain English and get instant insights from your GA4, Google Ads, Meta Ads, and Search Console data.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have:

• Claude Desktop app installed (download from claude.ai)

Step 1: Sign Up for 1ClickReport Pro

Step 2: Connect Your Marketing Platforms

Connecting Google Ads

Step 3: Get Your MCP Server URL

After connecting your platforms, navigate to the MCP Settings page. Here you'll find:

• Your API key (keep this secure!)
• Configuration instructions for Claude Desktop

Step 4: Configure Claude Desktop

Open Claude Desktop and configure the MCP server:

1. Open Claude Desktop settings
2. Navigate to "Developer" → "Edit Config"

Step 5: Start Asking Questions!

Advanced Tips

Multi-Property Analysis

If you have multiple GA4 properties or ad accounts, use the list_ga4_properties or list_google_ads_accounts tools first to see all available properties, then specify which one you want to query.

Funnel Analysis

Use the analyze_ga4_funnel tool to track user journeys through specific event sequences. Perfect for understanding conversion drop-offs.

Cross-Platform Comparisons

Ask Claude to compare metrics across platforms: "Compare traffic from Google Ads vs Facebook for the last week" - Claude will pull data from both sources and analyze the differences.
